Screencast
1. What standard(s)/outcome(s) are being met?

1 A. Identification, selection, installation and maintenance of technology infrastructure, and hardware and software applications for school administration and instruction.

1 B. Integrating technology into curricular planning and instructional design.

1 C. Management and administration of technology programs at the building, district and regional levels.

2. Identify 1-3 elements of the artifact and explain why/how they demonstrate mastery.

My school district recently adopted a new math series called Envision math. The math series uses an online component, but unfortunately accessing it is not very user-friendly for students or parents from home. There was a strong interest in using the online component, but the accessibility issue was discouraging many parents and students.  I decided to screencast myself accessing Envision's online component to allow users a demonstration of full access to the program. My screencast demonstrates an appropriate selection of an instructional application. By integrating this technology into part of the curricular plan and instruction, it made the Envision program more successful at m building and throughout my entire school district.

3. How does, will, or could the content of this artifact benefit your instructional audience or professional community?

The content of the screencast provides a model of the procedure one must follow to access the online portion of Envsion math. Envision offers multiple resources that benefit parents and students from home such as homework help, instructional videos, printable resources, and access to online versions of student workbooks.

4.  Reflection: What did you learn from the experience when you created the artifact or took the course?

The thing that I took away most from creating this artifact was how much quicker and easier a screencast was to use than the previous methods I was using for recording instructional videos. Prior to learning how to screencast, I used to use a digital video camera on a tripod and record my interactive whiteboard! I would then take the footage and edit it in a digital media program like iMovie.
